Caption: Arlington Memorial Amphitheater, Arlington, Va.
The Memorial Amphitheater is situated on an eminence in Arlington Va., and overlooks Washington. It is built of white marble in the form of an ellipse, the front formed by a Temple facing the Lincoln Memorial across the Potomac in Washington. The view as pictured here was taken from an aeroplane and shows the Amphitheater turfed and open to the sky above. The cost of the building was $1,000,000. Directly in front is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, whose body, brought from France by General Pershing, was buried with impressive ceremonies on November 11th, 1921.
