Rochester picture of Jenny Lind
.
That Jenny Lind deserves a place in the historical
records of Rochester is unquestioned. She was here for over three days,
july 21-25, 1851, giving two concerts, the first on July 22, and the second,
july 24. she was a guest at the Eagle Hotel. On July 23, 1851, the day
between her concert appearances she was induced to visit the studio of
Richard B. Appleby, "daguerrean artist" Nos. 14-15 Arcade Gallery, where
she sat for her daguerreotype. She was then in her thirty-first year. Above
is a copy of that locally famous picture, which has been furnished by Morley
B. Turpin..
